Meals on Wheels nabs first prize in photo contest

Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services in Contra Costa County won first prize in the National Council on Aging’s 2015 Falls Free Photo Contest, MOWSOS officials said Saturday.

The officials chose photos for the contest from a Tai Chi class taught at the San Pablo Senior Center, according to officials.

Instructor and MOWSOS health and wellness division manager Cynthia Black teaches the class weekly. In a statement, Black said keeping seniors active is essential:

“We are living longer now and Tai Chi helps keep our bodies and minds alert.”

The photo can be seen on the National Council on Aging’s website, it its newsletter and on the MOWSOS website, MOWSOS officials said.

Contest participants submitted photos showing adults participating in fall prevention programs and MOWSOS took first prize from among 80 contestants, MOWSOS officials said.
