SUV kills pedestrian in Lower Nob Hill

A female pedestrian was fatally struck by a car in San Francisco’s Lower Nob Hill neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 50s whose name is not yet being released, was crossing Pine Street shortly after 1 p.m. when an Audi SUV traveling north on Leavenworth Street made a left turn and struck her, police said.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, according to police.

The Audi driver, a 45-year-old woman, stopped at the scene and was not arrested, police said.

The pedestrian collision was one of two reported in the city on Wednesday. At 9:36 p.m., a 39-year-old man was crossing the street in the 300 block of Minerva Street in the Oceanview neighborhood when a Honda Civic traveling east on Minerva hit him, police said.

The victim was taken to the hospital with a head injury but is expected to survive. The 17-year-old girl driving the Honda was not arrested, according to police.
