Dreamforce descends on downtown San Francisco

The Dreamforce conference, a major tech event featuring top-name speakers and performers, has taken over San Francisco this week.

The conference, an annual event hosted by San Francisco-based Salesforce that includes speakers, workshops and product demonstrations, runs today through Friday at Moscone Center.

Extending well beyond the tech world, the event’s agenda includes a talk this morning by Golden State Warriors president and CEO Rick Welts and general manager Bob Myers.

Other scheduled speakers include Salesforce founder and CEO Marc Benioff, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, San Francisco Giants president and CEO Larry Baer, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Honest Company co-founder Jessica Alba.

The event will also include the sixth-annual Concert for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals on Thursday night at Pier 70, a benefit featuring the Foo Fighters, The Killers and Gary Clark Jr.

Perhaps most famously, this year the event will have its own cruise ship. In order to accommodate the expected crowds, Dreamforce organizers and Celebrity Cruises have docked a cruise ship at Pier 27, dubbed The Dreamboat, to act as a hotel during the conference.

Howard Street is closed to vehicle and bicycle traffic between Third and Fourth streets during the conference and will remain closed until Sunday, according to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.

Major traffic congestion and heavy pedestrian traffic is expected in the area around Moscone Center during the street closure, especially between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Travelers are encouraged to take public transit or use alternate routes.flick
