Two hit and run wrecks injure pedestrians

Police are investigating two separate hit-and-run collisions that seriously injured pedestrians in San Francisco on Sunday.

The first hit-and-run was reported at about 1:35 a.m. Sunday near Geary Boulevard and Gough Street in the city’s Cathedral Hill neighborhood, where a 68-year-old woman was walking north across Geary and was hit by a car, according to police.

The vehicle, described as a white four-door sedan, was last seen fleeing south on Gough and its driver remained at large as of this morning, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for severe head trauma that is considered life-threatening, according to police.

Later on Sunday, at about 10:45 p.m., another hit-and-run was reported near San Jose Avenue and Rice Street in the city’s Outer Mission neighborhood.

Officers responded and found a 31-year-old man lying unconscious in the street. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries also considered life-threatening, police said.

Investigators also found vehicle debris in the area and are looking for a dark Ford pickup truck with damage to its front driver’s side headlight, according to police.

Anyone with information about either hit-and-run is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” in the message.
