The 150-foot display of yarn is being installed on a chain link fence along the pedestrian walkway to the O.co Coliseum, tourism officials said.
The colors of the yarn used in the display are the team colors of each of the three professional sports teams in Oakland: the Oakland Raiders football team, the Oakland Athletics baseball team and the 2015 National Basketball Association champion Golden State Warriors, according to tourism officials.
Also, the design reflects the architecture of the eastern span of the Bay Bridge, tourism officials said.
The officials commissioned Lorna and Jill Watt from Knits for Life to create the artwork.
The Oakland Raiders play their home opener at O.co Coliseum at 1 p.m. Sunday.
