Light rail train strikes, injures pedestrian

A pedestrian suffered minor injuries Thursday afternoon after being struck by a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority light rail train in San Jose.

At 5:05 p.m., VTA officials received a report of the accident at North First Street and Karina Court, according to a VTA spokeswoman.

Because the victim’s injuries were minor, the victim was not taken to a hospital, spokeswoman Stacey Hendler said.

Light rail service was disrupted briefly and VTA officials began bus service between the Karina light rail station and the Bonaventura light rail station, as officials investigated the accident, Hendler said.

By 5:45 p.m., investigators had cleared the scene and service resumed, with some minor delays, according to Hendler.
