Karina Calderon died in the hospital on Aug. 20, according to the Contra Costa County coroner’s office.
On July 22, police and medical personnel responded at 1:15 p.m. to a report of a possible drowning in the 4000 block of Delta Fair Boulevard, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Fire Marshal Robert Marshall said.
Antioch police Sgt. Michael Mortimer said the child was being given a bath at the time.
Family members tried to perform CPR on the infant once they noticed the child was drowning, Mortimer said.
Medical crews transported Karina to the hospital but she was not able to recover from her injuries, authorities said.
It’s unclear whether charges will be filed in the case. A call to Antioch police today was not immediately returned.
