Driver at large after fatal hit-and-run

A woman was killed in a hit-and-run collision in East San Jose Thursday morning, a police spokesman said.

Around 7:15 a.m., officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a car in the area of Huran and Clarive drives, just north of Tully Road, police Officer Albert Morales said.

The woman was found suffering from serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency crews, according to Morales.

The car that struck the woman fled and was later found empty near the scene, Morales said.

The driver has not been found, according to Morales.

The woman’s name has not been released pending confirmation by the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office and notification of her next of kin, according to Morales.

The collision is the 31st fatal traffic incident this year in San Jose and the 14th involving a pedestrian, Morales said.
