Two brothers have died in an apparent murder-suicide in Pacheco on Thursday, according to the Contra Costa County coroner’s office and the sheriff’s office.
The two men were identified by the coroner’s office today as John and Richard Gilmore, aged 67 and 64, respectively. John Gilmore was a Martinez resident and Richard Gilmore lived in Pacheco, according to the coroner’s office.
The sheriff’s office is not yet identifying which brother was the shooter in the incident, spokesman Jimmy Lee said.
Deputies were called around 1 p.m. to a home in the first block of Dalton Court in Pacheco on a report of a disturbance, sheriff’s officials said.
As deputies were en route, dispatchers relayed information that a shooting had taken place and someone had been shot.
Deputies arrived to find two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the two men was transported to a hospital for treatment, while the other had already died, according to sheriff’s officials.
Sheriff’s officials said the shooting was not random and there are no outstanding suspects. Lee said the coroner was performing an autopsy this morning and more information about the incident would likely be available later today.
