A Pittsburg woman was killed early this morning after being struck by a car while walking on state Highway 4 in Antioch, according to the CHP.
The 50-year-old victim was walking north in the no. 2 lane when she was struck by an eastbound Toyota Corolla just east of A Street around 12:40 a.m.
The driver, a 26-year-old woman from Concord, reportedly saw the victim at the last moment and tried to swerve. After the crash she remained on scene and cooperated with investigators, according to CHP Officer John Fransen.
The driver is not suspected of driving under the influence, Fransen said.
The CHP is looking for more information about this morning’s fatal crash. They’re asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to assist in the investigation by calling (925) 646-4980.
