Police arrested a Martinez man Friday on suspicion of auto theft and burglary.
Around 2 a.m., police received a call from a resident in the 4900 block of Alhambra Valley Road reporting a suspicious person, according to police.
The caller told police they saw the suspect pushing a motorcycle down a neighbor’s driveway, attempt to jump start it and then load it into a stolen pick-up truck.
When an officer arrived at the scene, the officer spotted the suspect running from the truck, which had two motorcycles in the truck’s bed, police said.
The officer detained the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Antonio Neely.
Neely admitted to the officer that he had driven the truck and loaded the two motorcycles onto the truck’s bed, police said.
Police contacted the motorcycle’s owners and confirmed the items were stolen as the owners slept, according to police.
An officer also contacted the owner of the truck, who was unaware the truck had been stolen earlier that night, police said.
Police arrested Neely on suspicion of three counts of auto theft and two counts of burglary of an occupied dwelling.
Police said Neely returned twice to the residence to steal property.
The arrest is Neely’s third in the past month for auto theft, according to police.
All of the stolen property and vehicles were returned to the victims, police said.
