The Fremont Police Department announced Niko’s safe return via Twitter at 11:20 a.m. The dog was located by the San Jose Police Department in the vicinity of Branham Lane and the Almaden Expressway, police said.
Niko escaped from a secured yard sometime after 10 p.m. Friday. At just 16 months old, he’s said to be one of Fremont’s newest K9s – having been with the department for just a few weeks, according to police.
The dog “is going to be checked out, but appears to be in good health,” police said.
