Five arrested after stolen vehicle crashes

Five people were arrested Friday night in Pacifica after the stolen vehicle they were allegedly traveling in crashed into a hillside during a police pursuit.

Around 9 p.m., an officer traveling south on state Highway 1 near Reina Del Mar Avenue attempted to stop a vehicle on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.

The vehicle, a black Lincoln Town Car, failed to stop and accelerated to a high rate of speed as it continued heading southbound on the highway, according to police.

Approximately one mile south of the Tom Lantos Tunnel, the vehicle crashed into a hillside and rolled over, landing on its roof, police said.

Pacifica police, San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officers all assisted in arresting the five male suspects, three of whom were juveniles, according to police.

Authorities determined the vehicle the suspects were in had been stolen, though the owner was unaware the vehicle had been missing, police said.

One of the juveniles was taken a hospital for his injuries.

The three juveniles were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, evading a peace officer and causing injury, buying and receiving stolen property and conspiracy. Two of the juveniles had outstanding warrants for their arrest, according to police.

18-year-old San Bruno resident Ragneel Singh and 20-year-old South San Francisco resident Jose Rodriguez-Perez were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, buying and receiving stolen property and conspiracy, police said.
