Changes coming Sunday to bus lines in the San Mateo County Transit District will make it easier for people to shop, have fun and get to school, SamTrans officials said Wednesday.
Overall, the biggest change is to Route 122, which will have double the number of northbound trips on weekends. Route 122 serves Stonestown Galleria, Westlake Shopping Center, Serramonte Center and Westborough Square shopping centers.
SamTrans officials are also extending weekday evening and late-night service on route 122 so riders will able to shop later and San Francisco State University students will have better access to campus.
The number of connections between buses will increase and the number of trips will increase on 11 regular routes, SamTrans officials said.
Buses on the 11 routes will also be on time more often, district officials said.
SamTrans spokeswoman Jayme Ackemann said other important changes are taking place to buses that serve schools, as schools get ready for the new school year.
She said schedules on more than 30 bus lines are adjusting to meet the bell times at schools, which can change from year to year.
Also, SamTrans officials have added a new route, Route 95, with morning and afternoon service to Carlmont High School and Tierra Linda Middle School.
SamTrans officials adjust routes three times a year to account for changing passenger travel patterns and changing traffic patterns.
