A man walking in San Francisco’s Mission District early Saturday morning was shot in the hand when he grabbed the weapon of a man who was attempting to rob him, police said.
At about 4:40 a.m. Saturday, a 35-year-old man was walking near the intersection of South Van Ness Avenue and 19th Street when three male suspects approached him, according to police.
One of the suspects, a man in his mid 30s, took out a revolver and demanded the victim’s property.
Instead of handing over his property, the victim grabbed the suspect’s gun, police said.
The gun fired and the victim suffered a gunshot wound to his hand, according to police.
The three suspects fled the area on foot without the victim’s property. No suspects had been arrested as of this morning.
The victim went to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment of his injuries, which are not considered life-threatening, police said.
