Police released two videos Saturday of a suspect setting fire to a gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender mural in San Francisco’s Inner Mission neighborhood last month.
Officers responded at 11:10 p.m. June 29 to a report of a building fire at the corner of 24th and Bryant streets. Officers found a mural belonging to the Galeria De La Raza on fire.
Galeria De La Raza is a nonprofit arts organization, according to its website.
The video shows a person squirting a liquid onto the mural and lighting the liquid. The fire burns the mural for about a minute and a half, according to the video.
Police are describing the suspect as a 6 feet tall, 190-pound male wearing black pants, a black sweatshirt, white gloves, white tennis shoes, and a black cloth on the bottom half of his face.
Police said the suspect was last seen running south on Bryant Street.
Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to get in touch with the San Francisco Police Department on its anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444. People can also text a tip to TIP411, including “SFPD” at the start of the message.
