California Highway Patrol officials closed two lanes of the Bay Bridge to put out a small fire Monday night.
At 10:09 p.m., CHP officials responded to reports of a fire coming from underneath the bridge, near the Treasure Island exit, according to CHP officials.
The fire occurred near lane 1, in the left shoulder of the eastbound direction, CHP officials said.
Officers closed the two left lanes during the incident.
At 10:23 p.m., fire crews put out the blaze, CHP officials said.
Investigators believe the fire may have started when debris caught fire from a cigarette, CHP officials said.
All lanes of the bridge reopened around 11:20 p.m., according to the CHP.
