A 26-year-old Burlingame man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to felony vehicle manslaughter and felony reckless driving charges after a pedestrian he struck while riding a motorcycle last Wednesday died of his injuries on Thursday, according to a spokesman for the district attorney’s office.
Sean McGinnis was driving a motorcycle that struck two pedestrians around 9:10 p.m. on July 1 at Market and Third streets, San Francisco police Officer Grace Gatpandan said.
One of the pedestrians, Gregory Ihm, 39, was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday afternoon, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The second pedestrian was taken to a hospital with facial injuries and has since been released, Gatpandan said.
San Francisco District Attorney’s Office spokesman Alex Bastian said McGinnis’ bail was set at $315,000 and that if he bails out of jail he will be required to surrender his driver’s license.
McGinnis was also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, but Bastian said that the District Attorney’s Office has not yet filed DUI charges against McGinnis and that the allegations remain under investigation.
McGibbins is scheduled to appear in court on August 6 for a prehearing conference, Bastian said.
