Warriors revelers fill BART on second busiest day ever

Friday was one of the busiest days in BART’s history with more than half a million passengers, tens of thousands of whom went to the Golden State Warriors victory parade in Oakland.

Preliminary figures show a total of 551,479 people used BART on Friday, making it the transit agency’s second busiest day.

The busiest day on record was the day of the San Francisco Giants World Series victory parade in 2012 when 568,068 riders took BART, according to the agency.

All three of the biggest days in BART history correlate with major sporting celebrations.

Friday’s record displaces the previous second-place record set the day of the 2010 Giants World Series victory parade. That day 522,198 passengers rode BART, according to BART.
