Warriors fans streamed into the streets from Oakland to San Francisco and beyond Tuesday night, loudly and mostly peacefully celebrating Golden State’s first NBA title in 40 years.
After the Warriors finished off the Cavaliers 105-97, fans flooded intersections at 16th and Valencia, 24th and Mission, and 14th and Broadway in Oakland, celebrating a victory decades in the making.
Police in Oakland Tuesday morning are advising commuters to expect traffic delays downtown as crowds continue to celebrate the Golden State Warriors’ Tuesday night NBA Championship.
Police said commuters should expect delays in the areas of 14th Street and Broadway, 18th Street and Telegraph Avenue and at other locations in East Oakland.
Several streets in downtown Oakland were closed to traffic Tuesday night after large crowds took to the streets to celebrate the team’s Game Six win.
The 12th Street Oakland City Center BART station was shut down briefly Tuesday night because of crowds celebrating the Golden State Warriors’ NBA title.
BART officials announced the closure at 10 p.m. No other details about the closure were immediately available, though the station reopened shortly thereafter.
