An elderly woman suffered serious injuries when the driver of a pickup truck struck her as she crossed the street in San Francisco’s Excelsior neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Officers said the pedestrian, described as a woman in her 80s, was crossing the street at Mission Street and Persia Avenue shortly before 3 p.m. when she was struck.
The driver of the white, two-door pickup truck remained at the scene and was not arrested, police said.
Emergency crews transported the victim to San Francisco General Hospital via ambulance. She suffered life-threatening injuries, including fractures to her arms, hips, and legs, according to police.
Police are investigating the cause of the collision and have not yet said whether the pedestrian or motorist had the right of way.
