Teen allegedly crashes car, hides out with infant

A Santa Rosa woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment after her car ran off a road in Forestville around noon Thursday, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

A 19-year-old male passenger remained at the crash scene on Giusti Road near O’Haire Lane and an 18-year-old female passenger left but returned, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

The driver of the Honda Accord, Naazbah Yazzie, 19, of Santa Rosa, also left the accident scene with her year-and-a-half-old daughter, but she was found hiding in an orchard, Sloat said. Yazzie resisted but was arrested and CHP Officers took her child who was then taken by the Russian River Fire District’s ambulance to Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital, Sloat said.

The father and maternal grandmother of the child contacted the CHP and went to the hospital, and the CHP notified Child Protective Services, Sloat said.

Yazzie was found to be under the influence of alcohol and she could be charged with felony DUI, hit-and-run, child endangerment and resisting officers.

The two passengers in the Honda also had alcohol in their system and they were cited and released to the female passenger’s mother who responded to the scene.
