Police this morning are investigating a reported kidnapping of a 10-year-old girl on Friday. The girl has since been located and is with her family.
Officers responded at 4:37 p.m. Friday to Dan Mini Elementary School at 1530 Lorenzo Drive to investigate a report of a missing girl.
Police and employees from the Vallejo Unified School District conducted a search of the campus and the area around the school.
The girl was ultimately located at a friend’s house a few miles from the school, police said.
The girl told police an unknown man had taken her from the school. She said the man grabbed her by the arm, pulled her into a car and drove away.
She said she was able to escape the vehicle when the man stopped at a house in the north part of Vallejo or American Canyon, and she made her way to her friend’s house, according to police.
The girl was uninjured and is now safely with her family, police said.
The suspect has not been identified, but the girl described him as a black man, about 30 to 40 years old, who is 6 feet tall and heavy-set. She said he had short, curly black hair, a gold nose ring, a green tattoo of a dragon on his left arm and was wearing black and green eyeglasses, according to police.
She described the vehicle as a newer red coupe.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Vallejo police at (707) 649-4080 or (707) 648-4531.
