A recording device was discovered in a restroom of a University of California at Berkeley dormitory last week, according to police.
The camera was discovered last Friday in a women’s staff restroom on the lower level of the Unit 1 Central Building, UC Berkeley police said.
It apparently had been there since late April, when a sign was posted on the public restroom of the building directing women to use the staff restroom, according to police.
The staff restroom was down the hall from the public restroom, near the loading dock, police said.
Police are investigating a person of interest in the case who is no longer associated with UC Berkeley. Staff are checking all residence hall restrooms for other recording devices, police said.
Anyone who used the dorm’s staff restroom between late April and last Friday has been asked to contact UC Berkeley police Detective Pete Odyniec at (510) 642-1606.
