A San Carlos resident interrupted an attempted residential burglary after investigating strange noises coming from the back of his home on Friday morning.

At 10:07 a.m. Friday San Carlos patrol deputies with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service in the 1300 block of Rosewood Avenue.

After hearing strange noises coming from a window, the resident went to investigate. He found a suspect attempting to remove the window screen, according to deputies.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, and was last seen running in the 1500 block of Howard Avenue.

A witness on Howard reported seeing the suspect climb into a black Mitsubishi Gallant and flee east, deputies said.

The suspect is described is a black man, estimated to be 25 to 30 years old, standing 6 feet tall with a “fit build.” He was last seen wearing a red t-shirt over a white t-shirt, black shorts and dark shoes, according to deputies.
