Woman arrested for suspicion of robbing a bank

A Suisun City woman was arrested on suspicion of robbing a bank in San Francisco’s Bayview District on Tuesday afternoon, according to a police spokesman.

Antoinette Clay, 40, was arrested in connection with the robbery reported at 3:33 p.m. in the 4000 block of Third Street, San Francisco police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

The suspect walked into the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money. The teller complied, handing over an undisclosed amount of crash, according to police.

The suspect fled, but officers responding to the area found her in nearby Mendell Plaza. She was arrested without further incident and the stolen cash was recovered, Esparza said.

The suspect, later identified as Clay, initially gave police a false name. She was booked into jail on suspicion of felony robbery, possession of stolen property and providing false information to police, Esparza said.
