A woman was seriously injured when she was hit by a car while walking in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood Wednesday evening.

A dark gray Nissan Altima turning from northbound Seventh Street to Townsend Street hit the pedestrian at about 5:10 p.m., according to the Nissan’s driver. The pedestrian was injured and taken away in an ambulance. The 25-year-old woman was hospitalized with serious injuries, fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.

The Nissan’s driver stayed at the scene, just outside the Pinterest offices, and cooperated with police. The Nissan’s windshield was shattered.
