Starbucks peeper popped for peeping poopers

A Benicia man allegedly hid a video camera in the bathroom of a Walnut Creek Starbucks and recorded several customers using the restroom, police said Thursday.

Employees at the Starbucks at 1152 Locust St. first contacted police on Feb. 16 after they found a video camera hidden in the unisex bathroom. The camera had been hidden between 2:30 to 4 p.m. and had recorded several customers using the restroom, police said. Then on Tuesday, employees at the same Starbucks found another video camera hidden in the restroom. The camera had recorded customers using the restroom between 2 and 3 p.m.

Investigators identified Jacob Walter Turner, 34, as a suspect and served a warrant at his home on Oxford Drive in Benicia with the help of Benicia police. Police are working to identify the customers who were recorded using the Starbucks restroom during the times when the camera was in place.
