A man was arrested after allegedly grabbing the neck of a 5-year-old girl and pinning her against a building.
A man who allegedly grabbed the neck of a 5-year-old girl and pinned her up against a building in San Francisco’s Cow Hollow neighborhood Wednesday morning is in custody, a police spokesman said.
The young girl was walking with her mother near the intersection of Union and Octavia streets at about 7:40 a.m. when the suspect approached them, San Francisco police spokesman Michael Andraychak said. The man grabbed the girl by her neck and then lifted her off the ground before pinning her up against a nearby building, Andraychak said.
Police and medical crews arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect. The girl, who had injuries not considered life-threatening, was transported to a hospital for treatment. Andraychak said the suspect told police that he had a medical illness and he was taken to a separate hospital for examination.
Based on a preliminary investigation, Andraychak said it appears that the girl and her mother did not know the suspect and that it was an isolated incident. Andraychak said once the suspect is released from the hospital he will be booked into county jail, at which point his name and booking photo will be released.
