Vallejo man shot in neck expected to survive

A man shot in the neck is expected to survive after an early morning shooting in Vallejo, the city’s fourth shooting so far this weekend, a police lieutenant said.

Police have identified and arrested one of the suspects in the shootings, according to Vallejo police Lt. Kevin Bartlett. Officers responded at 1:46 a.m. to the 400 block of Illinois Street on a report of a shooting, Bartlett said.

Bartlett said someone knocked on a window in an apartment where the man was staying:

“He went to look and when he looked, they shot him.”

The 42-year-old victim was shot in the neck and transported to the hospital, Bartlett said. For a while, physicians didn’t know if he would survive but as of around 4:45 p.m. today, Bartlett said the man was in stable condition.

The shooting follows two others early this morning and one Saturday evening.

Officers responded at 1:37 a.m. to 1687 Lewis Brown Drive, the location of the After Hours Cocktails bar, according to Bartlett and the bar’s Facebook page. Officers arrived to find a man shot in the back with a rifle round, Bartlett said.

He said there were bullets from other guns found in the area as well. The victim is expected to survive, Bartlett said.

Roughly an hour prior, officers responded to another shooting and arrested a man who allegedly shot his girlfriend in the neck, Bartlett said.

Police identified the man as 29-year-old Vallejo resident Charles Scott. Officers responded to a report of shots fired around 12:30 a.m. at the Travel Inn, located at 160 Lincoln Road East, Bartlett said.

Officers found a 19-year-old woman who was shot in the neck and Bartlett said she was transported to the hospital.

She is also expected to survive, Bartlett said.

Officers arrested Scott on suspicion of shooting his girlfriend and Bartlett said officers were able to recover a handgun that police believe may be related to the shooting.

On Saturday, around 6:20 p.m., officers responded to 135 Carolina St., where police found a man outside an apartment building with multiple gunshot wounds. As of this afternoon, Bartlett said the victim was in stable condition.

Bartlett said residents found two guns on the ground in the apartment complex. Only Scott has been identified as a suspect in the shootings this weekend.

Bartlett said that as of this afternoon, no other arrests had been made and no other suspects had been identified.
