A 27-year-old man was fatally shot in a fight in Oakley late Saturday night, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday.
Officers in Oakley responded to a report of a large fight in the first block of Hamilton Court at about 11:55 p.m., sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said. While en route to the scene, the officers were informed that someone was shot, Lee said. Arriving officers found a 27-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound and performed CPR on him, according to Lee.
He was later pronounced dead by emergency personnel, the spokesman said. Detectives from Oakley police and the sheriff’s office are investigating the homicide, Lee said. No suspect information was available as of this afternoon.
