Cal student reported missing near USC

The Los Angeles Police Department and the family of a missing Berkeley college student are asking for the public’s help in finding him after he stepped out of a party early Saturday morning and never returned, police said today.

Eloi Vasquez, 19, a student at the University of California at Berkeley, was last seen around 1:30 a.m. in the 600 block of West 28th Street attending a party with his friends. The location is roughly three blocks from the University of Southern California campus.

Eloi reportedly told his friends that he wanted to take a walk. Police said he left the party and never returned.

Concerned friends tried to make contact with him the following morning but were not able to reach him, police said.

Police said he did not have any money or an identification card with him and said his family is concerned he hasn’t been located.

Police described Vasquez as a Hispanic man with black hair and brown eyes standing 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, gray pants and white tennis shoes, police said.

Anyone with information on Vasquez’s whereabouts is asked to call the Los Angeles police southwest area watch commander at (213) 486-8582 or during non-business hours, to call (877) 527-3247.

Anonymous tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
