Man’s body found in freezer

Police said a 54-year-old man’s body was found Tuesday afternoon in a freezer in a Napa apartment.

Officers made a welfare check in the 2100 block of Brown Street around 12:30 p.m. after a man said he had not seen or heard from his brother-in-law since the end of February, Napa police Lt. Debbie Peecook said.

The front door was unlocked, which was not unusual for the resident, and officers found the deceased body in a horizontal freezer box inside the apartment, Peecook said. There were no signs of forced entry or a struggle, according to police. The man’s identity is being withheld until his next of kin are notified of his death, Peecook said.

Police are trying to determine whether the death was suicide or homicide.
