Pedestrian struck by vehicle dies

An elderly man struck by a van in San Francisco’s Richmond District on Wednesday morning has succumbed to his injuries, police said Thursday.

The 87-year-old pedestrian, identified by the medical examiner’s office as Alfred Yee, was injured in a collision reported at 10:47 a.m. at Geary Boulevard and 26th Avenue, according to police.

Yee, a San Francisco resident, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Investigators determined Yee was walking north across Geary Boulevard in the crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle making a left turn from 26th Avenue, according to police.

The driver of the van stopped and was not cited at the scene, but the collision remains under investigation, police said.
