Carjacking suspects arrested after pursuit

Two men were arrested Thursday morning after allegedly stealing a car at gunpoint in San Jose, then leading police on a pursuit that ended in Sunnyvale, police said.

Officers responded at 12:04 a.m. to a report of a carjacking in the area between Tully Road and Summerside Drive, San Jose police Sgt. Heather Randol said.

The victim, who was not injured, reported two male suspects took his vehicle at gunpoint and then fled.

Officers located the vehicle shortly afterward and a pursuit ensued, Randol said.

The suspects ditched the car in the area of West Remington Drive and South Bernardo Avenue and fled on foot into a creek area, according to Randol.

Officers surrounded the area with the assistance of the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety and Santa Clara police and eventually arrested the suspects at about 6:50 a.m. with the assistance of K-9 units, Randol said.

Sunnyvale public safety officials said the suspects were taken into custody near Remington Court.

San Jose police were not immediately releasing the suspects’ names.
