Two hospitalized after Muni crash

A San Francisco Municipal Railway bus collided with a vehicle in Hayes Valley Tuesday morning, sending two people to the hospital, Muni and fire officials said.

The crash was reported at 8:25 a.m. in the area of Haight and Laguna streets, San Francisco fire spokeswoman Jen Balestrieri said. Two people were taken to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries, Balestrieri said.

Muni spokesman Paul Rose said at least one of the two was a passenger on the Muni bus. Rose said the 6-Parnassus bus was traveling in a red Muni-only lane when the other vehicle made a lane change in front of the bus, which struck the vehicle.

The collision caused minor damage to the front of the bus and major damage to the left side of the car, he said. The bus driver will undergo tests for drugs and alcohol, as is standard procedure in collisions involving Muni vehicles, Rose said.
