Plumber pleads not guilty to woman’s murder

A 57-year-old plumber pleaded not guilty Monday to a murder charge stemming from the stabbing death of a 23-year-old woman in West Oakland in July.

Delano Moore is accused of fatally stabbing Monique Robinson, who was unresponsive when police found her at the intersection of 24th and Chestnut streets at about 3:45 a.m. on July 3. Moore, who is being held at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin without bail, is scheduled to return to Alameda County Superior Court on March 30.

His preliminary hearing, which will determine whether there is enough evidence for him to be ordered to stand trial, is scheduled for April 27. A passing motorist saw Robinson’s body and called police. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Robinson’s Facebook profile, she graduated from McClymonds High School and studied at Laney College in Oakland. Robinson was a self-employed home health aide and was active in the Occupy Oakland movement, according to her Facebook page.

Robinson’s murder had gone unsolved for five months but Moore was arrested on Dec. 11 and charged with murder on Dec. 15.
