Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 3300 block of Brookdale Avenue around 7:50 p.m., Oakland police Officer Johnna Watson said.
UPDATE 6:02 p.m. Oakland police chief decries teen’s murder.The boy, later identified as Oakland resident Davon Ellis, was found suffering from a gunshot wound, Watson said.
He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Watson.
Based on a preliminary investigation, Davon was walking with his friends when he was shot, she said.
No other injuries were reported. No arrests have been made in the shooting, according to Watson.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering a reward of up to $20,000 for any information leading to an arrest in the homicide.
