Two men suffered only minor injuries after their vehicle fell roughly 300 feet down a cliff in Oakland Saturday morning, according to a fire department official.
Battalion Chief Geoff Hunter said fire crews responded at 9:22 a.m. to a report of a vehicle over a cliff at Grizzly Peak Boulevard and Marlborough Terrace near the Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve.
The department’s rescue team found a car down a ravine approximately 300 feet from the roadway.
The crew rappelled down the cliff and found two young men, who were able to walk up the hill with the help of the rescue team, Hunter said:
“Fortunately for them, they appeared to be in pretty good shape.”
He said there was no hazard present from the car, which he described only as a four-wheel drive vehicle, also known as a 4×4.
