Two men from San Diego County were arrested Wednesday when police discovered them inside a warehouse in San Francisco’s Bayview District along with nearly 3,000 illegally grown marijuana plants, police said Friday.
According to San Francisco police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza, officers investigating the marijuana grow operation, obtained a search warrant and then served the warrant at a warehouse located in the 1500 block of Wallace Avenue, about a block from Third Street, around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
During the search, two Hispanic men who were inside the warehouse were detained.
Police identified the men as 57-year-old Gabriel Ruiz, of Chula Vista, and 23-year-old Felipe Everardo Lopez, of San Diego.
Inside the warehouse, police discovered nearly 3,000 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, as well as electrical equipment and lights that are commonly used in marijuana cultivation.
The warehouse search also uncovered client pay sheets allegedly used to document the sale of the marijuana.
Police seized all evidence and arrested both men.
Ruiz and Lopez were both booked into county jail for cultivation and sale of marijuana, as well as conspiracy charges, Esparza said.
