Bomb squad probing suspicious North Beach package

The San Francisco police bomb squad has been called to investigate a suspicious package in the city’s North Beach neighborhood this afternoon.

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious package in the 700 block of Lombard Street near Mason Street around 1 p.m., police said.

The surrounding area has been evacuated as a precaution, according to police.
