Armed robber cleans out laundromat

A man with a knife robbed the Bright and Clean Laundromat in San Carlos Thursday night and left with a large amount of cash, San Mateo County Sheriff’s officials said Friday.

The sheriff’s office received a call at about 8:50 p.m. Thursday of an armed robbery at 1191 Laurel St., according to the sheriff’s office.

Officials said the suspect entered the laundry, threatened an employee with a knife and demanded money.

The sheriff’s office is withholding the amount of money taken for the purpose of the investigation.

The sheriff’s office is describing the man as Hispanic, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, in his 20s and heavy set.

He was wearing a black hat and a light blue jacket, possibly a jean jacket.

Deputies said the suspect was last seen on Laurel Street near Greenwood Avenue in San Carlos.
