Thieves smash SUV into Wells Fargo museum

A Wells Fargo spokesman said today the company is grateful no team member was hurt during this morning’s robbery of the Wells Fargo History Museum in San Francisco.

The robbery occurred at about 2:30 a.m. at 420 Montgomery St. when three people drove an SUV into the museum, according to police.

Wells Fargo spokesman Ruben Pulido also said the museum’s historic stagecoaches went undamaged during the robbery. Robbers, however, left with some gold nuggets and possibly other property.

Officials with Wells Fargo said they are cooperating with the police department’s investigation. Pulido said the company is disturbed that the robbery occurred. He said, however, that the museum will reopen so it can serve the thousands of people that visit each year.
