A San Francisco man was arrested after allegedly shooting multiple rounds into inhabited dwellings in San Francisco’s Silver Terrace neighborhood Tuesday night, a police spokeswoman said today.
The suspect, identified as 53-year-old parolee Deryl Nisby, was arrested shortly after the shooting, San Francisco police Officer Grace Gatpandan said.
At about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 200 block of Topeka Avenue.
Upon arrival, police officers located a home that had been struck by gunfire. Gunfire also damaged a neighboring home on Apollo Street, Gatpandan said.
At least three people were inside the two homes at the time of the shooting, but none were injured, Gatpandan said.
The officers were able to obtain witness statements that identified the shooter, as well as the vehicle, according to police.
Officers later spotted Nisby driving in the area of Third Street and Palou Avenue in the Bayview District. Nisby was stopped by officers and positively identified as the suspect in the shooting, police said.
During a search of Nisby’s vehicle, police found a loaded .40 caliber handgun on the floor of the backseat.
Nisby, a parolee prohibited from possessing any weapons, was arrested in connection with the shooting.
Gatpandan said Nisby was arrested on suspicion of six felonies including two counts of discharging a firearm into an inhabited dwelling, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed loaded firearm and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
