Recovering from injuries and struggling to hit stride, Tomas Hertl was sent down Thursday to the Worcester Sharks.
Tomas Hertl was sent down Thursday to the Worcester Sharks, San Jose’s American Hockey League affiliate, alongside defenseman Dylan DeMelo and forward Barclay Goodrow.
Second-year player Hertl, 21, made a name for himself last season after a dominant four-goal performance in a 9-2 rout over the New York Rangers last season.
Hertl went on a decline this season, struggling with injuries and totaling just 17 points in 48 games with San Jose, including eight goals and nine assists.
The move comes days after the team placed Justin Braun and Tommy Wingels on the injured reserve.
Goodrow, 21, amassed seven points this season with two goals and five assists in 31 games with the Sharks.
DeMelo, 21, returns to Worcester after a brief recall when Braun and Wingels were first placed on IR. He totaled 13 points with three goals and 10 assists for Worcester. DeMelo was the leading scorer for Worcester last season in his 68 games played.
