Three members of the Solano Community College women’s basketball team have been arrested in connection with an alleged baseball bat beating of a woman at a Fairfield park on Monday, a Fairfield police lieutenant said.
Justice Robinson, 19, Jainice Robinson, 18, and Kiara Beacham, 19, all of Fairfield were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and conspiracy, Lt. Stephen Crane said.
Fairfield police responded at 7:30 p.m. Monday to a report of a possible fight at Allan Witt Park, Crane said. Police did not find anyone at the park but later contacted the victim at an area hospital, Crane said. The three suspects were booked in the Solano County Jail late Monday evening or early Tuesday morning, Crane said.
Police are still investigating the incident, Crane said. Shemila Johnson, a spokeswoman for the college, said five of its athletic players who allegedly were involved have been barred from the team and expelled from school:
“The entire college district is deeply saddened by the actions of the arrested parties and do not condone the violence that was displayed on the victim,”
Johnson said. Jainice Robinson was a freshman at the school and Justice Robinson and Beachman were sophomores.
