The Golden Gate Bridge closed just after Midnight Saturday morning to vehicle traffic for weekend safety upgrades.
San Francisco officials announced the closure just after midnight. The California Highway Patrol and construction crews started closing bridge roads around 9:30 p.m. Friday.
The upgrades include the installation of a $30 million metal and concrete moveable median barrier. The bridge is scheduled to reopen Monday morning at 4 a.m.
