Forty-five men and women will join the San Francisco Police Department following their police academy graduation ceremony.
Forty-five men and women will join the San Francisco Police Department as sworn police officers following their graduation ceremony Friday evening, a police spokesman said.
Of the 45 new officers in the San Francisco Police Department’s 241st class, six previously served in the U.S. armed forces, one was a paramedic and another was an attorney and holds a law degree.
In addition, two members hold master’s degrees, nine hold bachelor’s degrees and one member holds an associate’s degree, according to San Francisco police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza.
Among the languages spoken by the new officers are Spanish, French, German, Farsi, Japanese, Arabic, Korean, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Laotian and Thai, according to Esparza.
The graduation will take place at 6 p.m. this evening at the Scottish Rite Masonic Auditorium located at 2850 19th Ave., Esparza said. On Saturday, the newly sworn in police officers will start their field training.
