Pickup flips, kills Seaside man
A man driving a pickup truck died in a crash near Watsonville in unincorporated Santa Cruz County late Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A man driving a pickup truck died in a crash near Watsonville in unincorporated Santa Cruz County late Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At about 11:15 p.m., the man was driving a 1999 Ford pickup truck west on Lakeview Road where he lost control of the vehicle, CHP officials said.
The truck traveled left across the road then crashed into a power pole and parked car at 723 Lakeview Road, according to the CHP.
The pickup truck rolled on its right side, partially ejecting the driver who became pinned underneath the vehicle, CHP officials said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later, according to the CHP.
The Santa Cruz County coroner’s office identified him today as 24-year-old Jonathan Hughes of Seaside.
No other passengers were inside the truck, CHP officials said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, according to the CHP.
