A Vallejo woman faces 14 months in prison when she is sentenced next month in Sonoma County Superior Court for embezzling more than $100,000 from a solar technology and service company.
Eileen Madayag, 43, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to embezzling $138,175 from SPG Solar of Petaluma between Oct. 24, 2011, and May 22, 2014, said Sonoma County District Attorney Jill Ravitch.
Madayag, a payroll manager at the company, rerouted employee paychecks into several bank accounts in her name and intercepted and retained accounts payable from clients to her employer, Ravitch said.
The company suspected wrongdoing when management noticed a former employee was still receiving paychecks via direct deposit, Ravitch said.
An internal audit in July discovered additional direct deposits were made in the names of other former employees, and several current employees were receiving double deposits of paychecks, Ravitch said. Madayag will be sentenced Jan. 14 to a 14-month prison term and 14 months of mandatory supervision.
She also will be required to repay the stolen money, Ravitch said. Madayag was charged with multiple counts of embezzlement, computer crimes, possession of stolen identities and forgery.
